Approach to Therapy
My approach to therapy is evidence-based, trauma-informed and holistic. I believe in offering science-based psychotherapy along with practices that support the connection and balance between mind, body, and spirit. I integrate traditional psychotherapy with somatic modalities, nervous system regulation tools, and mind-body-spirit practices, to uncover and treat the root cause of your struggles, not just your symptoms.
I take a humanistic, compassionate approach and know that we all encounter deep emotional pain and loss. Sometimes we all need a little help. It’s how we make meaning and grow from emotional pain that can be fulfilling and empowering. In sessions, we’ll use humor and creativity to explore self-compassion and vulnerability.
During a session with me, you may practice defining your values, using proven strategies to gain new perspectives, and manage difficult emotions with self-compassion and mindfulness. We’ll work together to establish which therapeutic interventions will best serve your interests and needs. Some of the interventions we’ll work with will include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
Mindfulness and Meditation
